"the earth is but one country and mankind its citizens".
"The first, the fundamental purpose underlying creation hath ever been, and will continue to be, none other than the appearance of trustworthiness and godliness, of sincerity and goodwill amongst mankind, for these qualities are the cause of peace, security and tranquillity. Blessed are those who possess such virtues." Bahá'u'lláh

The founder of the Bahá'í Faith was Bahá'u'lláh who, in Iran, in 1863 made what was then very revolutionary statements including that there should be; harmony of science and religion, equality of men and women, an auxiliary universal language, a world government and that religion and science should be in accord with each other. These teachings are now becoming universally accepted but he was imprisoned and exiled for his beliefs.
In 1998/1999 the Centenary of the Bahá'í Faith in the United Kingdom was celebrated.
After Christianity the Bahá'í Faith is the most widespread religion on the planet.
that the followers of all religions believe in the same God but they see different aspects of him depending on their background and upbringing.
God is far too great for any man to fully know. All men of God are trying to know God better.
'Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be'
Bahá'ís are followers of Bahá'u'lláh (1817 - 1892), a messenger from God who taught that there should be one God and one religion for the whole of humankind.
Bahá'ís believe that God has sent many messengers over the centuries to people of many lands and no man is deprived of access to God because of the time and place of his birth.
Bahá'ís believe that these messengers include Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster, Jesus, Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) and Bahá'u'lláh. Others will follow as mankind progresses and changes and needs up to date guidance.
Bahá'u'lláh confirmed the universal truths, about prayer, faith and good works and gave man further guidance about how to govern the world in such a way as to preserve justice and fairness, to conserve the world's resources and bring about a 'Most Great Peace'.
Bahá'ís are established in all the countries and major cities in the world and have an international centre on Mount Carmel in the Holy land.
Bahá'ís believe that each individual should make their own independent investigation into religious truth and only embrace a religion when they feel personally that it is right.
Therefore Bahá'ís do not press their religion on anyone but only offer it as a gift and invite enquirers to investigate further and if they feel it is the truth then to join them in their work of unifying the planet.
O my God! O my God!
Unite the hearts of Thy servants, and reveal to them Thy
great purpose. May they follow Thy
commandments and abide in Thy law.
Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and grant them strength to serve Thee.
O God! Leave them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the light of Thy knowledge, and cheer their
hearts by Thy love.
Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord.
(Bahá'u'lláh: Bahá'í Prayers)
All quotations are from books published by the Bahá'í Books UK
whose catalogue is available by request, as well as by various other publishers.)
O SON OF BEING! Thou art My lamp and My light is in thee. Get thou from it thy radiance and seek none other than Me. For I have created thee rich and have bountifully shed My favour upon thee.
(Bahá'u'lláh: Arabic Hidden Words, No 11)
Yet so it shall be; these fruitless strifes, these ruinous wars shall pass
away, and the "Most Great Peace" shall come....
(Bahá'u'lláh: Compilation of Writings about Peace, page 157)

U K Bahá'í Review
Keynsham
Keynsham is an old established town in North East Somerset
in the South West of England in the United Kingdom.
It lies between the historic cities of Bristol and Bath.
Keynsham Bahá'í Community
It is envisaged that this will grow significantly in the next few years as more people become convinced that the
Bahá'í Faith is the answer to the world's spiritual and moral problems.
Bahá'ís believe that all the founders of the world's great religions were sent by God to educate mankind according to his needs at that time. We believe that God will keep sending us guidance as the human race continues to develop and that Baha'u'llah is the latest of these Messengers from God who has brought teachings to suit the needs of the world today.
Bahá'ís have the spiritual welfare of all people as their goal.
Visitors are welcome to all Bahá'í devotional meetings.
The Bahá'í Faith in the UK celebrated its
Centenary year in the UK in 1998/9.

About Keynsham
Go to back to Contents
Keynsham is a small town of about 16,000 souls, located in the south-west of England, almost exactly between the historic cities of Bristol and Bath. The main road between the two cities, the A4, passes by the town on the Keynsham by-pass, but prior to its building in the early seventies the A4 passed through the town itself.
The river Avon (forming part of the Kennet & Avon canal) passes by on the outskirts of Keynsham and is joined by the river Chew, which flows through the pleasant Memorial Gardens in the centre of the town.
The town has a
Keynsham Town Council
but is now largely administered by the unitary authority of
Bath and North East Somerset Council.
It is an excellent town to live in. It has good housing, excellent schools, active churches and is well placed for travelling into the major conurbations of Bristol and Bath with their ample employment opportunities. There are good bus, (service buses and 'Park & Ride') and train services into Bristol and Bath and the M4 and M5 motorways are within easy reach.
There are very useful community web sites at;
www.keynshamweb.org.uk,
www.news.keynshamweb.org.uk,
www.ekeynsham.com and
www.keynsham.co.uk
which provide links to churches, local voluntary organisations and local busineses etc..
Formerly Keynsham was in the district of Wansdyke in the county of Avon.
See the street map of Keynsham below.
