All religions are different facets of the one main 'religion of God'. All are worshipping the same God albeit in different ways. All mankind are members of the one human family created by God.
The founder of the Bahá'í Faith was Bahá'u'lláh who, in Iran, in 1863 made what was then very revolutionary statements including that there should be; equality of men and women, an auxiliary universal language, a world government and that religion and science should be in accord with each other. These teachings are now becoming universally accepted but he was imprisoned and exiled for his beliefs.
In 1998/1999 we celebrated the Centenary of the Bahá'í Faith in the United Kingdom.
After Christianity the Bahá'í Faith is the
most widespread religion on the planet.
that the followers of all religions believe in the same God
but they see different aspects of him depending
on their background and upbringing.
God is far too great for any man to fully know.
All men of God are trying to know God better.
'Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be'
Bahá'ís are followers of Bahá'u'lláh (1817 - 1892), a messenger from God who taught that there should be
one God and one religion for the whole of humankind.
Bahá'ís believe that God has sent many messengers over the centuries to people of many lands and no
man is deprived of access to God because of the time and place of his birth.
Bahá'ís believe that these messengers include Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster Jesus
Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) and Bahá'u'lláh. Others will follow as mankind progresses and changes and needs up to date guidance.
Bahá'u'lláh confirmed the universal truths, about prayer, faith and good works and gave man further
guidance about how to govern the world in such a way as to preserve justice and fairness, to conserve the
world's resources and bring about a 'Most Great Peace'.
Bahá'ís are established in all the countries and major cities in
the world and have an international centre on Mount Carmel in
the Holy land. Bahá'ís believe that each individual should make their own independent
investigation into
religious truth and only embrace a religion when they feel
personally that it is right.
Therefore Bahá'ís do not press their religion on anyone but only
offer it as a gift and invite enquirers to investigate further and if
they feel it is the truth then to join them in their work of
unifying the planet.
O my God! O my God!
Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and grant them strength to serve Thee.
Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord.
(Bahá'u'lláh: Bahá'í Prayers) All quotations are from books published by the
Bahá'í Publishing Trust,
whose catalogue is available by request, as well as by various
other publishers.)
O SON OF BEING! Thou art My lamp and My light is in thee. Get thou from it thy radiance and seek none other than Me. For I have created thee rich and have bountifully shed My favour upon thee.
Yet so it shall be; these fruitless strifes, these ruinous wars shall pass
away, and the "Most Great Peace" shall come....
(Bahá'u'lláh: Compilation of Writings about Peace, page 157)

Spiritual Assemblies are elected bodies of nine Bahá'ís
in good standing who live in the local community. Bahá'ís
believe that Bahá'u'lláh
is the messenger of God for this day and meet to worship and consult
together on a regular basis.
They have the spiritual welfare of all people as their goal. The Spiritual Assembly of Kirklees was first formed in 1980 and was
incorporated in April 1998. Bahá'í meetings have
taken place in the neighbouring Bahá'í community
of Bradford since 1927.

Bahá'í beliefs, prayer & prophecy
Bahá'ís believe
Unite the hearts of Thy servants, and reveal to them Thy
great purpose. May they follow Thy
commandments and abide in Thy law.
O God! Leave them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the light of Thy knowledge, and cheer their
hearts by Thy love.

U K Bahá'í Review
Kirklees is a metropolitan area in West Yorkshire, England
in the United Kingdom. Its major towns are
Huddersfield and Dewsbury to the East of the Pennine
mountain range between Manchester in Lancashire and Leeds
in Yorkshire.
It has a population of nearly 400,000
and was built up, like its neighbours Halifax, Leeds
and Bradford, in the nineteenth century during the
industrial revolution.
Its prosperity came from the
carding, dying and weaving of prime quality wool cloth
and also from skilled mechanical engineering.
It has significant minority populations from Pakistan
and the Caribbean who came to Huddersfield in the post war years
to provide much needed manpower for the textile industries.
Huddersfield is a
University Town within a beautiful area with
commuting access to many of the major cities of the North.
Huddersfield has a population of 115,000 (in 1991), has more
than 30,000 full time students and has 200 listed buildings.
Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield are all within a 45 minute drive
through the country or along the motorways.
It used to have a reputation as the centre of the 'Dark satanic
mills' but particularly since the smoke control regulations
of the post war years it has become a very pleasant place to live.
Kirklees is the third largest local authority in England, with an area
of 254 square miles, and has 71% classified as green belt and
11% in the Peak District National Park.

Message to
World's Religious Leaders
This eight page message was sent from the Universal House of Justice, the elected World Governing Council of the Bahá'í Faith in April 2002 to the Leaders of Religion worldwide. It advocates co-operation between religions and the elimination of religious strife.
